About The McKinney Ice Hockey Club (MIHC)
The MIHC, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is a youth sports organization that ices high school hockey teams for students attending the McKinney Independent School District.

Our History
The McKinney Ice Hockey Club was founded in 1996 as part of the 12-team Metroplex High School Hockey League. In 1998, SBC (now AT&T) became involved as the governing body, and the league has continued to grow over the years. In 1997, McKinney Independent School District granted MIHC permission to represent the district and use its colors, although it does not sponsor the club, and club members do not use any school facilities. In 2005, MIHC joined the North Texas Hockey League as well, so players have an opportunity to compete in both competitive travel and high school leagues and to allow affordable hockey opportunities for younger players interested in playing hockey, in particular those living in Collin County. Beginning in the 2011-12 season, MIHC's select team competed as the McKinney Lightning.

For the 2015-16 season, MIHC began operating the McKinney North Stars teams in the Dallas Stars Travel Hockey League. In 2017, MIHC returned to its roots as a high school only program when its membership and board voted to create a new, separate non-profit corporation to operate the McKinney North Stars. MIHC will only ice high school teams beginning in the 2017-18 season.

Hockey operations are managed by Lucas Reid, who is MIHC's Director of Coaching.

MIHC devotes tremendous effort to ensuring that all of our members are part of the club as a whole rather than simply one team and have a voice in the operation of the club.
