The McKinney Ice Hockey Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that creates high school hockey teams for students attending the McKinney Independent School District at the Junior Varsity and Varsity Levels.  Players Represent Boyd High, McKinney North, McKinney High School & all five Middle Schools in McKinney.

USA Hockey Safe Sport training is required for all coaches, volunteers, and players with a birth year of 2005 or earlier.

McKinney Ice Hockey Club will hold our Summer Tryouts on April 1st.

The tryouts will be held at

The Tryout Schedule is as follows:

Junior Varsity: 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM

Varsity: 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM

If you haven't played Summer Hockey for MIHC in the past - it is a fun time in a bit more relaxed environment than the normal season. We will have one practice on 4/22 @ 2:30 PM

Summer Dues are as follows:

Varsity:

Dues are: $425 per player**

JV:

Dues are $350 per Player**

** any player who played in the 2022-2023 regular season will be given a $50 discount on summer dues.

As in the past - Goalies will be free to play

Note: The Club will assess the number of players who attend tryouts and or register and make a determination based on numbers how many teams will play in the Varsity and JV league.

Here is some information from the Stars regarding the Summer Program.

JV/ Varsity-North Division

(North & South divisions may combine and/or divided based on skill depending on the number of teams)

• Games will be on Sunday afternoon/evening at various CHSC/CC locations. Home Teams will play at CHSC/CC Rink nearest to their school whenever possible.

• Ten (10) Regular Season Games

• Playoffs for the top four (4) teams

Dear MIHC Families,

Below is information on individual and team photos for 2022-2023 season photos.  

We will be using Ernest Photography this year.  Ernest Photography is a highly sought after local photographer in McKinney that we are happy to support!

Photos will be taken on the following dates.  Please have your player at one of the following:

Monday, January 16th 7:00 pm (Varsity Gold)

Monday, January 30th 7:00 pm (make-up VG and Early Bird option for JV and VB)

Saturday, February 4th 7:30 am(JV and VB, make-up for VG)

**on all three dates any player is welcome to come for photos, teams that have practice at that time will have priority for photos.  Photos will be taken prior to practice, please be prompt and players be respectful and mindful of time**

Photos will be taken in a trailer in the parking lot outside the club locker room.  Players will need to have proper skate guards to walk outside into the trailer or put skates on in the trailer.

Players will wear home jerseys (dark).

Please note, you can pre register with the photographer by scanning the QR code on the order form.  Please indicate the Team with MIHC VG, VB or JV respectively.  This is important so each player is placed in the correct team photo.

We will also try to get a nostalgic style team photo with players at practice on Monday, January 30, 2023 and Saturday, February 4, 2023 on ice.

Tryouts for the fall season will be held on August 7th from 10AM -Noon.  Varsity tryouts will be 10-11 and JV Tryouts will be 11 AM - Noon.   There is no cost to tryout for the team! To register for the tryout use this link: https://mckinneyicehockey.sportngin.com/register/form/374153898 Check in for Tryouts will for Varsity at 9:15 AM and check in for JV will be 10:15 AM. Spirit Wear and Jersey fitting/ordering will happen after tryout.

The number of teams and make up of those teams will depend on the numbers, ages/grades and skills of players that sign up!

******Covid-19 Update******

On Aug 11, 2022 , the CDC updated the quarantine guidelines.

Based on these updated guidelines:

If a player receives a positive test result (regardless of vaccination status):

• cannot attend a MIHC event if fever exists
• cannot attend a MIHC event for 5 days from positive test result
• if has no symptoms or symptoms are resolving after 5 days then can attend but must wear a mask in the locker room for 5 more days

As always:

Players that have any symptoms related to COVID must not attend a MIHC event. 

To reduce the potential of spreading the COVID-19 virus it is important to abide by with the following: 

• Players that do not feel well or have any symptoms related to COVID-19 must not attend any McKinney Ice Hockey event (practice, dryland training, games, team meetings, team parties, etc). 
• If a player has been in recent direct contact with anyone that has been diagnosed with COVID-19 then the player must not attend a McKinney Ice Hockey event if they display symptoms.
• Please notify your head coach and/or TM if your player will not be able to attend a McKinney Ice Hockey event due to a COVID-19 reason. 
• Players that have tested positive for COVID-19 should follow the guidelines provided by the CDC found here before returning to a McKinney Ice Hockey event. 
• Currently masks are NOT mandatory for players and spectators in the McKinney Rink. We recommend anyone who is not vaccinated, including players and family members, wear a mask while in the rink and not on the ice, especially in the locker rooms. 
•  Chairs will be available at the ends of each rink to use for gearing up if you do not want to use the locker room. 
• Players should bring their own water bottle and never share.
